What do I offer?
I offer one-to-one, face-to-face psychotherapy sessions, which can help you to explore and understand yourself and whats happening in your life. I currently don't offer telephone counselling or online counselling sessions.
If you would like to have a free 10-minute telephone consultation prior to us meeting, this can be arranged, but please note, this is not telephone counselling - it is a consultation to see if you would like to come in for an initial session.
An initial session is very slightly different from a regular counselling session. We will spend some time at the beginning of the session going over the counselling agreement. This is a document that sets out what we can both expect from each other and from our work together. We then spend some time getting to know each other, and how we would like to work together.
We may get into the reason that you have come to counselling, or we may spend the session discussing various experiences that make you who you are. It is not necessary to disclose very painful information during our first meeting. At the end of the appointment, we will have an opportunity to discuss how you found the session, and to discuss follow-up appointments.
There is no obligation to book a follow-up appointment. I will hold the same appointment for you the following week and will ask you to get in contact with me during the week to confirm whether or not you would like to continue.
If we do continue working together, I ask that we initially work together for at least six sessions, on a weekly basis. We will then have a review and discuss the work done so far, and we can adjust our direction, style, and focus if necessary.
